Bodyline doesn’t only do weight loss – we specialise in well-being products too. We chat about our own brand of Vitamin D supplement – our D3 spray and how it can change your wellbeing for good!

With our increasingly hectic lifestyles, it can be challenging for many of us to prioritise our wellbeing, but as the sun isn’t often shining in England – we need to ensure we’re topping up on supplements as they are intrinsically linked to our overall health.

What is Vitamin D?

Vitamin D is an extremely important vitamin that has powerful effects on several systems throughout your body. Unlike other vitamins, vitamin D functions as a hormone, and every single cell in your body has a receptor for it.

Your body makes it from cholesterol when your skin is exposed to sunlight.

Vitamin D helps to control the amount of calcium and phosphate in our bodies. Both are needed for healthy bones, teeth and muscles.

It’s also found in certain foods such as fatty fish, fortified dairy products, oily fish, red meat and egg yolks, though it’s very difficult to get enough from diet alone.

Vitamin D deficiency is very common. It’s estimated that about 1 billion people worldwide have low levels of the vitamin in their blood.

Who needs vitamin D?

The new advice from PHE is that adults and children over the age of one should consider taking a daily supplement containing 10mcg of vitamin D, particularly during autumn and winter.

People who have a higher risk of vitamin D deficiency are being advised to take a supplement all year round.

People with dark skin, from African, African-Caribbean and South Asian backgrounds, may also not get enough vitamin D from sunlight in the summer, so again we’d suggest they consider taking a supplement all year round as well.

How do I know if I am deficient?

Vitamin D deficiency symptoms include feeling very tired, having aches and pains, or feeling very sleepy, but there can be other tell-tale signs. As always, we would advise anyone feeling unwell or with unexplained symptoms to visit a GP.

Vitamin D is very important to the overall health of the body, as it helps to keep your bones, teeth and muscles healthy. It’s needed to regulate the amount of calcium in the phosphate in the body, according to the NHS. Without enough vitamin D in your diet, it could lead to some serious complications, including osteomalacia and rickets. You could be at risk of a vitamin D deficiency if you suddenly find you’ve lost some of your hair.

Hair loss could be an early warning sign that you need more vitamin D in your diet, as this vitamin is needed for hair follicles to remain healthy, as it supplies them with key nutrients.

Your hair can subsequently become weak and brittle without enough vitamin D.

Being deficient in vitamin D can also lead to a host of sleep issues, including sleep disruption, insomnia, and overall poor sleep quality.

What’s our Vitamin D3 spray?

Also known as the “Sunshine Vitamin” it’s one of the most beneficial supplements you can take daily.

Bodyline’s in-house pharmacists have created our very own Vitamin D supplement, Vitamin D3, to support your weight loss and wellness needs while following a calorie-reduced diet.

Studies have shown that we need around 10 minutes of sunshine a day to get your Vitamin D fix, but of course, living in the UK we often miss out! Everyone is different, and your levels will not only depend on the seasons but also on whether you have an outdoor job or work in an office. If you are worried about not getting enough Vitamin D, then this product is perfect for you.

It will:

  • Increase bone, teeth and hair strength.
  • Be more effective than tablets as it is absorbed straight into your system.
  • Give you an increased immunity.
  • Reduce blood pressure.
  • Regulate insulin levels.

It’s a total bargain at only £12 a bottle which will last on average a month.

As well as topping up with our spray, our team would also advise individuals to try adding more vitamin D-rich foods to your diet. The best food sources of vitamin D include oily fish, eggs, mushrooms, and some fortified products.
