Your Eli Lilly Pill Questions Answered

Posted on August 14, 2026 by Sally-Anne Turner

The Eli Lilly pill is predicted to become available in the UK soon, once again helping to change the face of medicated weight loss.

As it has just been approved for use in the UK by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), it may soon become available in private weight loss clinics, including the Bodyline Clinic. Exciting!

So, in anticipation, we have researched what people are asking about this pill and compiled the answers below.

What to Expect

What Is the Foundayo Pill?

The new Eli Lilly pill, brand name Foundayo, is a once-daily oral GLP-1 receptor agonist. The orforglipron tablet works by mimicking GLP-1, and this hormone is linked to appetite and blood sugar regulation. At the time of writing, in the UK, it is authorised for weight management in eligible adults and for treating type 2 diabetes.

How Much Weight Will I Lose if I Take Foundayo?

Participants taking the highest dose of Foundayo lost approximately 11.1% of their body weight. This worked out as about 25.2 pounds and was noted over 72 weeks.

Unlike the Wegovy pill, there is no "maintenance dose" for Foundayo. Patients are advised to take the lowest dose to hit their target weight goals.

What Are the Side Effects of Foundayo?

The most common orforglipron side effects that have been noted in clinical trials (as well as reported by people in the USA) include:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhoea
  • Constipation
  • Stomach problems (indigestion, stomach pain)

Anyone who is taking orforglipron and develops severe or persistent abdominal pain, especially if it is accompanied by vomiting, should seek immediate medical care.

Day to Day

How Do You Store Foundayo?

Orforglipron does not require refrigeration. It should be stored at room temperature, between 20°C and 25°C. This will help it maintain its shelf life of 2–3 years. Exposure to extreme heat, moisture or light can cause its chemical structure to degrade.

How Do You Take Foundayo?

You can take Foundayo at any time of the day, with or without food or water. You do not need to take it at the same time each day, but setting up a routine for it will likely help you remember to take it. You also don't need to fast before or after taking it.

What Is the Maximum Dose of Foundayo?

Unlike the Wegovy pill, there is no maintenance dose of Foundayo. The titration of this pill is broken down as follows:

  • Begins at 0.8 mg
  • Titrating to 2.5 mg in month one
  • 5.5 mg in month two
  • 9 mg in month three
  • 14.5 mg in month four
  • 17.2 mg in month five

For maximum efficacy, you will need to stay on each dose for a minimum of 30 days.

What Medications Should Be Avoided with Foundayo?

Before taking Foundayo, you should alert your prescriber to all the medications you take. This includes supplements, vitamins and even herbal products.

Medications that have been noted to have an interaction with Foundayo include:

  • HIV medications
  • Antibiotics
  • Antifungals
  • Anticonvulsants/seizure medications
  • Immunosuppressants
  • Cholesterol-lowering medications, especially simvastatin
  • Oral contraceptives/birth control pills
  • Diabetes medications
  • Other GLP-1 receptor agonists, including Wegovy and Ozempic

I Have a Concerning Side Effect: What Should I Do?

If you notice an extreme side effect of the Foundayo pill, or are worried about a potential allergic reaction, please contact your healthcare provider immediately.

Foundayo and Other GLP-1s

Is Foundayo the Same as Wegovy?

In a word, no. The Wegovy pill is oral semaglutide (the same ingredient that is found in Ozempic). The Eli Lilly pill, or Foundayo, has orforglipron as its primary ingredient. Orforglipron is a small-molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist, whereas semaglutide is a peptide GLP-1 analogue.

When Will Foundayo Be Available in the UK?

It has just been approved by the MHRA. Based on previous oral weight loss medications, it could be available in the next month, or later in 2026. It will not be available on the NHS until a NICE review has occurred.
