What is WeGovy?

With all the recent chatter online and in the news about WeGovy and its incredible results, it’s no wonder people looking to shed weight are interested in hearing about what WeGovy actually is. Here at Bodyline Wellness Clinics, we’re happy to assist in offering the latest and greatest in medical weight loss information and guidance, so buckle up as you find out: what is WeGovy?

WeGovy or Ozempic?

WeGovy and Ozempic are both medications used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. They both contain the active ingredient semaglutide, which belongs to a class of drugs called GLP-1 receptor agonists. GLP-1 receptor agonists work by mimicking the effects of a natural hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) in the body.

WeGovy is a once-weekly injection. It is manufactured by Novo Nordisk in the US, the same company that produces Ozempic, also an injection administered once a week. WeGovy has essentially been remarketed as a weight loss solution for obesity as opposed to type 2 diabetes. Both medications have been seen to reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular death in adults with obesity and/or type 2 diabetes.

However, the incredible result that comes alongside these health benefits is a health transformation and drastic weight loss. Studies have shown that users of Ozempic/WeGovy saw an average loss of 15% of their overall body weight! This medication has helped people with BMI’s listed under obese to reach healthy BMI’s, even if they’ve spent years trying beforehand.

Ozempic is offered as an aid to help people suffering from obesity with a healthy diet and exercise regime, as well as to improve glycaemic control in those suffering from diabetes. It is also approved to reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events.

How does WeGovy work?

Both WeGovy and Ozempic work by stimulating the release of insulin from the pancreas in response to meals, reducing the amount of glucose produced by the liver, and slowing down the emptying of food from the stomach. This helps to lower blood sugar levels and improve glycemic control in people with type 2 diabetes.

In addition to their glucose-lowering effects, both WeGovy and Ozempic have been shown to promote weight loss. This is believed to be due to their ability to reduce appetite and food intake, as well as their effects on the metabolism.

Is WeGovy available in the UK?

It’s worth noting that while WeGovy and Ozempic share many similarities, there are some key differences between the two medications. For example, WeGovy is a higher-dose formulation of semaglutide compared to Ozempic. WeGovy as a brand is higher in price and is not currently available to people in the UK.

Luckily, here at Bodyline we are excited to offer the game changing Ozempic Slimming Pen as part of our medical weight loss programmes! WeGovy will be available shortly. This allows clients to make use of WeGovy’s incredible weight loss results here in the UK and reach their goal weight quickly and safely.

Weight loss injections have been dominating headlines and social media conversations about medical weight loss treatments across the world, particularly since they became accessible privately in the UK.  However, unfortunately these injectable weight loss medications aren't always suitable for anyone that seeks medical support for their weight loss goals. Luckily, at Bodyline we have almost two decades of experience offering a range of safe, effective, and efficient medical weight loss treatments, helping patients lose weight sustainably long before injectable therapies came onto the market.
Obesity is a complex condition that affects millions of people worldwide, and numbers continue to rise. In fact, experts predict that by 2035, over half of the world’s population will be overweight or obese. Obesity can lead to various health issues, including diabetes, heart disease, and joint problems, and for some people, health complications due to obesity can be fatal.
Weight loss injections are being talked about everywhere now-a-days, from the news to celebrity gossip pages, from social media to chats in the salon, everyone wants to know what they are and how they work for weight loss. These injections, also known as “skinny jabs” or “slimming pens”, offer an additional tool to aid in weight loss alongside traditional methods like diet and exercise for those who struggle to lose weight sustainably or effectively.
