What is WeGovy?

With all the recent chatter online and in the news about WeGovy and its incredible results, it’s no wonder people looking to shed weight are interested in hearing about what WeGovy actually is. Here at Bodyline Wellness Clinics, we’re happy to assist in offering the latest and greatest in medical weight loss information and guidance, so buckle up as you find out: what is WeGovy?

WeGovy or Ozempic?

WeGovy and Ozempic are both medications used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. They both contain the active ingredient semaglutide, which belongs to a class of drugs called GLP-1 receptor agonists. GLP-1 receptor agonists work by mimicking the effects of a natural hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) in the body.

WeGovy is a once-weekly injection. It is manufactured by Novo Nordisk in the US, the same company that produces Ozempic, also an injection administered once a week. WeGovy has essentially been remarketed as a weight loss solution for obesity as opposed to type 2 diabetes. Both medications have been seen to reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular death in adults with obesity and/or type 2 diabetes.

However, the incredible result that comes alongside these health benefits is a health transformation and drastic weight loss. Studies have shown that users of Ozempic/WeGovy saw an average loss of 15% of their overall body weight! This medication has helped people with BMI’s listed under obese to reach healthy BMI’s, even if they’ve spent years trying beforehand.

Ozempic is offered as an aid to help people suffering from obesity with a healthy diet and exercise regime, as well as to improve glycaemic control in those suffering from diabetes. It is also approved to reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events.

How does WeGovy work?

Both WeGovy and Ozempic work by stimulating the release of insulin from the pancreas in response to meals, reducing the amount of glucose produced by the liver, and slowing down the emptying of food from the stomach. This helps to lower blood sugar levels and improve glycemic control in people with type 2 diabetes.

In addition to their glucose-lowering effects, both WeGovy and Ozempic have been shown to promote weight loss. This is believed to be due to their ability to reduce appetite and food intake, as well as their effects on the metabolism.

Is WeGovy available in the UK?

It’s worth noting that while WeGovy and Ozempic share many similarities, there are some key differences between the two medications. For example, WeGovy is a higher-dose formulation of semaglutide compared to Ozempic. WeGovy as a brand is higher in price and is not currently available to people in the UK.

Luckily, here at Bodyline we are excited to offer the game changing Ozempic Slimming Pen as part of our medical weight loss programmes! WeGovy will be available shortly. This allows clients to make use of WeGovy’s incredible weight loss results here in the UK and reach their goal weight quickly and safely.

When it comes to weight loss injections, it's hard to ignore the buzz surrounding these treatments and their potential to help individuals achieve their weight loss goals. However, with the rise in popularity of these injections, it's important to be aware of the risks associated with unregulated sources and fake products. Too often we see the scary headlines of near-death experiences, serious illness, and adverse reactions from counterfeit “skinny jabs” and weight loss injections. The online black market of injectable appetite suppressing medications promises cheap prices for quick fixes, but that is not how weight loss works.
By now we should all have heard of the incredible weight loss results from GLP-1 receptor agonist medications and their ever-growing popularity. All over the UK, people are searching for access to ‘game changing’ medications to solve their weight problems. Searches for semaglutide, tirzepatide and liraglutide (brand names WeGovy/Ozempic, Mounjaro, and Saxenda respectively) have increased dramatically in the past year, and interest continues to rise. That’s because for the first time ever, there seems to be a potential long-term solution to the obesity epidemic that has afflicted the world over the past 30 years.
Despite the enormous popularity of WeGovy and its incredible impact on weight loss, a shortage of the injectable weight loss therapy has been ongoing in recent months. The semaglutide-containing injection has been dubbed “game-changing” for the treatment of obesity, and demand has been high, but manufacturer Novo Nordisk has struggled to keep up and has only released limited stock.
