Healthy Breakfast Smoothies

Packed with essential nutrients that keep your body nourished all morning and into the afternoon, smoothies are a quick and easy breakfast for weight loss. There’s hardly any no prep work required, and you’ll only need to clean the blender afterwards. They only need a handful of ingredients, there’s no cooking, and the end result is a smoothie that will actually keep you full.

We’ve put together a quick guide to our three favourite, tried-and-tested breakfast smoothies that you can enjoy too. Give them a try and let us know which one is your favourite! And if you have your own breakfast smoothie recipe that you like to use, we’d love to hear about that too.

 

Vegan Chai and Oat Smoothie (219 calories)

This delicious smoothie contains masala chai, along with oats and dates to keep you energised and satisfied until lunch. Masala chai is tea which is blended with fragrant spices, such as cardamom and ginger, among others. Using different teas is a great way to add flavour and health benefits to smoothies. Studies indicate black tea, the base of masala chai, can aid in providing mental clarity and boost mood and work performance. Not a bad start to the day!

175ml water
1 Masala chai tea bag
1/2 frozen banana, broken into chunks
2 Tbsp oats
2 pitted dates

Carefully open the tea bag and empty the tea leaves and spices into your blender. Add in the rest of your ingredients and blend on low, then finish on high for 1 to 2 minutes, until it is a yummy, smooth consistency.

 

Sunrise Smoothie (350 calories)

This smoothie tastes like a summer holiday in a glass and combines the antioxidant power of frozen berries with a blast of vitamin C from the whole orange. A punch of potassium from the frozen banana and staying power from protein-packed Greek yogurt and this smoothie is bound to leave you feeling energised for the entire day.

150g frozen mixed berries
1 frozen banana
1 orange, peeled and segmented
125g Greek vanilla yoghurt

Place all ingredients in the blender on a low speed. Finish blending on high for one minute until smooth.

 

Strawberry Beet Smoothie (165 calories)

This recipe is packed with powerful cell-happy antioxidants from the beets and strawberries, plus the potassium of the banana and coconut water, and the healthy dose of fat from coconut oil to assist in absorbing all the glorious vitamins and nutrients in your body.

125ml coconut water
165g strawberries, chopped & frozen
1 banana, frozen
1 small/medium beetroot; scrubbed, ends trimmed, and roughly chopped
1tbsp coconut oil

Pop all of your prepped ingredients into your blender and blend on low for a minute or so. Finish on high for a further two minutes to ensure all of the beetroot is fully incorporated in and there are no chunks.
