How Long Would You Have to Walk to Burn Off These Treats?

We’ve all done it. Eaten a rather indulgent treat that maybe wasn’t on the diet plan for the day and then wondered how long we’d realistically have to move for before we’d burnt it off. Well, today we’re going to tell you.

We’ve picked out some classic treats and crunched the numbers to work out exactly how long you’d have to walk for, at an average speed to burn off the calories consumed!

Krispy Kreme Original Glazed Doughnut

Lots of us like a doughnut from time to time and the Original Glazed by Krispy Kreme really is a classic but did you know each one of these doughnuts is 200 calories?

For just one of these plain ring doughnuts, you’d have to walk at around 3.5mph for 40 minutes to burn off the calories.

If you fancy treating yourself to a more lavish doughnut, perhaps something like the Lotus Biscoff doughnut at 396 calories each, you’ll have to extend your walk to nearer 80 minutes.

Mr Kipling Mini Battenberg Cake

Mr Kipling cakes really are irresistible and the mini Battenberg cakes at 131 calories each really are a favourite with so many of us but for just one of these fun-size cakes, you’d have to walk for at least 26 minutes to burn off the calories.

As for Mr Kipling’s Angel Slices, they’re 139 calories each, so you’re looking at a similar length walk of nearly 28 minutes to say goodbye to the calories contained in one of those.

Cadbury’s Dairy Milk

Those 200g bars of Cadbury’s Dairy Milk chocolate may recommend we only consume 25g at a time but too many of us know how easy it is to eat at least half of the bar in one sitting.

Got comfortable with a cuppa and accidentally cleared 100g of this bar? That would add up to 532 calories for not that much chocolate but nevertheless, to burn off that full amount of calories, you’d need to walk over an hour and a half at an average speed.

Doritos Cool Original

Very few of us are any good at portioning our share bags of crisps correctly and can easily eat 90g of a 180g bag without realising and what you also may not have realised is that 90g of Cool Original flavoured Doritos actually contains 441 calories.

If you were to walk at 3.5mph, you would have to walk for nearly 90 minutes to burn the snack off.

Jaffa Cakes

Whether you class them as a biscuit or a cake, Jaffa Cakes are known for being extremely moreish and can easily be consumed in multiple quantities.

If you were to eat 5 Jaffa Cakes, which is half of a standard pack of 10, you’d be looking at consuming 230 calories which would require exactly 46 minutes of walking at an average speed to be burnt.

Oreo McFlurry

One of the classic McFlurry flavours, each standard, full-size Oreo McFlurry from McDonald’s contains 267 calories which is equivalent to the number of calories you’d burn on a 53 minute walk, so nearly an hour!

As for the other classic flavours, the Maltesers McFlurry contains 283 calories which would take nearer 57 minutes and similarly, the 280 calorie Smarties McFlurry would call for a 56 minute walk.

We all love a treat from time to time and as long as everything is enjoyed in moderation, there really is no need to say no to anything but being aware of your calorie count is important for weight loss.

Treats are easier to enjoy if you have them after exercise, so why not flip things around and burn the calories before digging in? Then there’s really no need to feel guilty!
